Process

In order to obtain the best results, the fundamentals of discovery, listening and asking the right questions, is at the core of any project. We seek to develop a full understanding of your goals.

Certain project types follow unique workflows that we’ve developed through years of positive working experience with our clients.

Process by Project Type

Marketing and Creative Strategy

1. Discovery and Development

An initial discovery meeting with the client helps us to determine their goals and targets, as well as to understand their unique brand voice and identity. This helps us in the development of key messages and compelling content that resonates with your target audiences and positions your brand.

2. Tactics and Timelines

Once we understand the client’s main objectives and budget, we strategize the core tactics that will enable them to reach their goals, whether that is to increase sales or revenues, expand brand awareness, or enter into new markets. Working with your timelines and budgets, we create an execution calendar that outlines all tactics and proposed timelines.

3. Channels

We work to understand your unique buyer persona that enables us to identify the most appropriate channels to communicate your messaging and to expand your reach and influence. These channels include traditional and digital media, including all social media channels, in addition to targeted emails and newsletter campaigns.

1. Initial Meeting and Research

We begin this stage with a kick-off meeting with the client to determine their vision and gather information to help in the development of the brand identity and logo. We then conduct internal research and brainstorming sessions and begin to develop logo concepts.

2. Concept Development and Presentation

Initial concepts with potential variations are presented to the client for review
and feedback.

3. Font and Colour Exploration

Once the top concept(s) are selected, we further refine and develop these options with different font and colour options.

4. Final Files, Variations and Usage

This stage involves finalizing any potential logo variations (ex: horizontal, vertical, English, French, Bilingual) and preparing final files for the client in the following colour options: full colour, one colour black, one colour white and file formats: vector (ai, eps, pdf) jpeg (RGB), png (RGB). Any brand assets such as guidelines and templates are also finalized.

1. Discovery and Planning: Research, Content Audit, Needs Analysis, Sitemap

We review current web analytics, content and overall structure to see which pages are most important to users and determine how information on your site should be organized going forward. After all, needs have been determined, we prepare a sitemap to reflect the new and improved website hierarchy and navigation.

2. Visual Design, Wireframe/Prototype

Once the sitemap has been established, our creative team develops the overall look and feel for the design of the new website. This is an opportunity to define the vision for the new site before all pages, templates and components are designed. We will then create a working prototype of the website based on the design concept. This prototype demonstrates the site structure and identifies areas for content, buttons, menus, images etc.

3. Integration and Development

Integration includes the development of the website/application according to the specifications agreed upon in the planning documents. The site is hosted on a development server until it is ready for launch.

4. Content Entry, Testing, QA and Training

The new site is tested on a web server by various individuals for quality control and browser compatibility. Any potential issues are fixed at this point. Content entry is done at this stage as well if it is included with your project as well as a recorded training session. Testing can include ad-hoc testing, creating test cases and browser compatibility issues.

5. Launch and Support

Following any bug fixes, the new site is launched and made accessible to the public. Any content edits can now be done directly through the CMS dashboard with login credentials. Cyan also offers monthly support packages for the ongoing maintenance and update of your new website. Any post-launch bug fixes that are deemed as warranty items will be corrected by Cyan. Future design or technology enhancements can be addressed and estimated separately as needed.

1. Research and Script Writing

If your video project requires a script, we conduct research to help establish clear and concise messaging. We develop the English script in collaboration with the client. If you require the video to be translated, we ask that you obtain this on your end.

2. Storyboards

Based on the approved script, we develop storyboards that outline the video and its different sections. This is essentially a breakdown of the script and what will appear on the screen (animation, video footage, etc.). We also obtain a voiceover recording at this stage as well if it is required.

3. Integration and Development

Once the storyboards have been approved, we will proceed with video production/animation. At this time, we also present options for any background music and/or stock video footage. Once the draft video is approved, we purchase the assets and prepare the final mp4 files. If a French video is required, it is completed after the English has been approved.

1. Concept Development and Presentation

Based on the supplied creative brief and content, our design team prepares an initial concept for your review. This concept is then presented to gather feedback. Once revisions have been made and the concept has been approved, we proceed with the full layout and design.

2. Layout and Design

Based on the approved concept, the full layout is completed (typically starting with English first) and submitted for review. Once approved, we complete the French layout if it is required.

3. Final Files

Once any necessary revisions have been made and layout(s) have been approved, Cyan provides final files in the required formats and/or produces the final product.

4. Production and Printing

Should you require the production and/or printing of your project, Cyan can coordinate with a range of providers to facilitate this process. We also offer in-house printing on smaller items such as brochures, postcards, tickets, business cards, labels, etc.
