The primary challenge in rebranding SLIAO into Asign was to create a cohesive and modern brand identity that resonated with both existing and new audiences. SLIAO needed a modern, cohesive identity and website that would be more accessible and inclusive to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community it serves, while preserving the trust and recognition it had already built.
This required a balance of preserving original brand values while introducing fresh elements to enhance accessibility and inclusivity. The project spanned various phases of branding, marketing, consulting, design and development; contributing to efficient collaboration and communication with all people involved.
Cyan led a five-phase rebrand — renaming and logo development, website rebuild, brand guidelines, rollout, and ongoing evolution — grounded in direct research into deaf-community terminology and needs. The new “Asign” identity retained the recognizable hands symbol from the original logo, was introduced through a name-reveal video, and was carried through a fully accessible website with sticky ASL/LSQ translation videos on every page, HubSpot CRM integration, brand guidelines, templates, signage, and custom icon sets.
Asign now has an accessible, distinctive brand and website purpose-built for the community it serves.
